Bongwoo Tao Breathing 16 Steps-Step 3

In this step, you are encouraged to breathe slowly and evenly so that over time your breath has a consistent rhythm and is not long or short breath.
In the third step, you are encouraged to practice the Bongwoo Tao Breathing Method. The gist of the Bongwoo Tao Breathing Method is to inhale and exhale slowly and evenly. To breathe evenly means to have equal length of inhalation and exhalation. If you are practicing this method, it is extremely difficult to check the length of your breathing. We recommend that you keep an old-fashioned clock that makes the tick-tock sound to check the length of your breathing. As a next step, gently try to extend the length of your inhale and exhale. Once you have mastered this step, count numbers in your mind as you inhale and exhale to maintain an even breath. In other words, if you are taking a 2 seconds inbreath and a 2 seconds outbreath, then you have a single breath of 4 seconds. As your practice deepens, you may increase your inbreath to 3 seconds and outbreath to 3 seconds and have a total breath of 6 seconds. In this step, you are encouraged not to hold your breath between an inhale and exhale. Holding your breath is strongly discouraged by the Bongwoo Tao Breathing Method of the Baekdusan mountain tribe.
To fully experience this step, you are encouraged to meditate for 4 hours a day for at least one month or an hour a day for a period of 4 months. As you practice this step, you will find that you are able to breathe a single breath of 10 seconds during this training.
